Course TitleDescription
Industrial SafetyStudents will understand laws and regulations concerning industrial safety. In addition, students will learn to reduce risks of accidents, and ensure the safety of life, properties, and the operating environment. The safety at workplace will be maintained as well. Course content includes introductions to industrial safety, industrial safety organizations, industrial safety inspection, safety analysis, and safely operating tools.
Industrial VentilationStudents will understand the content and principles of industrial ventilation in this course. Students will also be trained to acquire ventilation control skills, and provide advice for ventilation measurements and analysis results, from which they will learn to be responsible. Other topics include environmental control and industrial ventilation, the functions and types of industrial ventilation, regulations concerning industrial ventilation, the design and use timing of local exhaust, and the design of overall ventilation.
Industrial HygieneThe course introduces physical, chemical, biological and human hazard factors at the workplace to teach students ways to reduce the impacts brought to humans and the environment. Students will also learn to assess the impacts, and learn to correctly use various personal protective equipment, pollution control equipment, and first aid skills. The course will also culture students' professional attitude on industry health, and assist them to obtain professional licenses.
Public HealthThe objective of this course is to explore the current situation, problems and possible solutions of public health. Course content includes: introductions to public health, demography, health administration, health care systems, prevention strategies of public health, disease prevention and control (infectious and chronic diseases), principles of epidemiology, food safety and health, vector control methods, environmental health, toxic chemical substances and occupational health. Finally, taking this course will help obtain a professional license on public health.
Water Quality Analysis and OperationThe course introduces basic principles of water quality analysis and standard testing methods to familiarize students with the water quality analysis and regulations.
BiostatisticsThis course mainly consists of lectures and will be presented by ppt. Students can download materials on line before each lecture. Final grades will be given according to weekly participation and performance, quizes, midterm exam, and final exam.
PhysicsThis course will introduce basic concepts of physics, including kinematics, dynamics, rotational motion, rigid body balance, temperature and heat, basic electrical and so on. This course will also guide students to apply the science of quality, energy, space and time on professional courses of environmental engineering and health in the future.
Aerosol ScienceAerosols are tiny solid or liquid particles that float in the air. This course aims to introduce gas geology and the applications on engineering. .Particle transport: brownian motion and diffusion, centrifugation, intertia and filtration, convective diffusion, extermal forcr fields, thermal force .Optical properties: visibility, light scattering .Aerosol dynamics: coagulation, formation and growth .Atmospheric Aerosois and Bioaerosols .Measurement of aerosol
Vector ControlThe course aims to introduce the environmental medicine, laws and regulations concerning disease prevention and control, the primary vector, and applications on environmental remediation and safety protection as well as prevention measures. Students will also learn about the importance of disease prevention and control of the spread of disease, and learn to spray drugs. Other topics include the relevant laws and regulations on environmental medicine, the management of disease prevention and control industry, types of environmental medicine, the safe use and protection of environmental medicine, the introduction of Taiwan's major disease vectors, the operation and maintenance of spraying equipment.
Lab PhysiologyIn addition to introducing the normal physiological coordination of human beings, this course will systematically explore the effects of exercise and labor on humans. Students will also learn about the correlations among labor, neuromuscular, respiratory, circulatory systems, and energy. It was hoped that students will gain an understanding of the physiological manifestations of the human body with a workload and hazards concerning environmental health and occupations. Treatments to occupational injuries and prevention methods will also be covered.
General BiologyThis course aims to introduce fundamental concepts of biology, covering the introductions of biology, taxonomy, the structure and functions of cells, energy and nutrition, applications of biotechnology and behavior impacts to the ecology, etc.
Short-Term InternThis course aims to provide more resources for students, and enhance their knowledge to better prepare them for future employment.
Water Supply EngineeringThis course aims to introduce the regulations, health and technologies for drinking water treatment. Students will also learn about the selections of water treatment plants.
Instrumental AnalysisThis course aims to train students to analyze simple equipment, and validate the equipment.

Environmental EcologyEnvironmental Ecology mainly discusses the basic connotation of ecology, the status of ecological environment in the world and Taiwan, and the significance of ecological ethics. Concerned about the development trend of global environmental issues. Establish a harmonious and sustainable development of man and environment and skills.

Environmental Impact AssessmentThis course aims to equip students with knowledge and skills of environmental impact assessment, and introduce EIA procedures and regulations through case studies for their future employment or studies.
Environmental Health1. Through concepts of environmental health and basic environmental science, students will understand the changes of environment, and become aware of this issue. 2. By learning about environmental sanitation, students will better understand the ecological environment and resources, and learn to respect for the environment.
Introduction of Environment Protection For HospitalThe course introduces the potential hazards hospitals might face and focuses of prevention.
Work Environment MeasurementThis course aims to introduce fundamental concepts of workplace monitoring, covering various sampling methods of hazard factors, selection of the equipment, calibration skills, and the importance of measurement at the workplace.
Air Pollution ControlThe course covers introductions to air pollution control, the nature of particulate pollutants, control of primary particulates, control of volatile organic compounds, control of sulfur oxides, control of nitrogen oxides, air pollutants and global climate changes, meteorology regarding air pollution control engineering.
Radiation SafetyRadiation safety course focuses on protecting people from adverse radiation. It is an application based on occupational health considerations for industrial, medical or research radiation sources. The Department of Environmental Engineering and Health offers the purpose of establishing basic radiation safety theory, radiation health effects, radiation protection acts, radiation applications, radiation protection concepts, radiation detection and measurement etc. It is expected to expand the professional fields of students and increase student employment opportunities.

Industrial Wastewater TreatmentThe course introduces the operation of unit processes in the treatment of industrial wastewater.
Environmental Microbiology LabThis course will consist of weekly lectures and experiments. Students will have to observe, record, and discuss the results obtained from the previous experiments. Chemistry ExperimentThe course allows students to do experiments to understand basic principles of various experiments in the chemistry field. This is a fundamental course for professional courses in the Department of Environmental Engineering and Health.

Environmental Protection Laws and RegulationsThis course introduces concepts of environmental laws and regulations.
Environmental Engineering ChemistryThis is a fundamental course for students in the Department of Environmental Engineering and Health. Therefore, this course will focus on the common concepts of chemistry and technical calculation to strengthen students' comprehension and calculation ability.
Biological Wastewater TreatmentThe course introduces basic principles of biological process and applications in wastewater treatment. In the class, common processes of wastewater treatment are introduced such as activated sludge process, fixed film biological process, membrane biological reactor process and anaerobic biological treatment process, etc.
Operation and Maintenance for Wastewater Treatment PlantThe course will introduce the operations of wastewater plants, facility maintenance, and guidelines, etc.

Noise and VibrationThis course aims to introduce the concepts, sources and impacts of noises.
Sewage EngineeringThe course provides a basic understanding of the operations of unit process in the treatment of domestic wastewater. Students will understand the physical, chemical and biological principles in wastewater treatment. Upon the completion of this course, students will: ‧ gain an understanding of the effects of wastewater discharges on the environment; ‧ understand the fundamental concepts and principles of the technologies required for domestic wastewater treatment; ‧ understand the principles involved in the selection of appropriate unit processes.
Air Pollutants Sampling and AnalysisCourse content includes: introductions to air contaminants, air flow rate calibration, particles, sampling technique, the gas sampling technique, nitrogen dioxide, ethanol and acetone concentration analysis, n-alkanes and organic pollutants concentration analysis. Students will learn about the basic sampling technologies for air pollutants and the qualitative and quantitative assessment of pollutants. Besides, the course will also assist students to obtain a professional license on air pollution control.
Waste Analysis and ExperimentsThis course aims to introduce the theories and applications of waste and understand inspection.
Environmental HydrologyThis course primarily introduces the basics of hydrology, including the correlations between water and hydrological factors, and issues related to water resources. This course emphasizes the applications of hydrology in the field of environmental engineering in order to help students obtain basic analysis ability.
Biotechnique and SafetyBiotechnology can bring many conveniences to human beings. However, unreasonable and unsafe use of biotechnology will bring greater disasters. This course mainly focuses on the application of biotechnology in environmental engineering, ethical considerations and safety management, so students will acquire correct concepts and skills to avoid potential hazards.
EpidemiologyThe course introduces the definition of epidemiology, causation, significance of indicators (incidence, prevalence, mortality, odds ratio, relative risks, direct standardization, etc.), along with the design and principles of epidemiological studies (Cohort, case-control, ecological and cross-sectional study) and introductions to various diseases (descriptive, analytical and experimental epidemiology, etc.). Students will become familiar with the design and calculation of epidemiological methods. Finally, students will also be guided to cultivate the right attitude towards epidemic disease, and obtain a professional license.
Risk AssessmentThe purpose of this course is to enable students to understand basic concepts of risk assessment, and the exposure to various occupational hazards. Students will understand the framework of risk assessment, career risk analysis and future applications.
Industrial and Environmental TooxicologyMany chemicals are used in the industrial production process, some of which are toxic to humans and the environment. This course mainly explores the management of chemicals, the mechanism of action and hazards, etc., Therefore, operators will be equipped with knowledge and skills to avoid being harmed.

Energy and Environmental Engineering This course aims to explore the features and types of energy as well as environmental issues related to energy. Students will also learn about the current trends on environmental issues, and learn to design cases to analyze environmental and economic problems.
Wastewater Quality Examination and LabortoryThe course introduces the analysis of wastewater. Students will also learn to cultivate the right attitude required for inspectors. This course is to help students obtain professional licenses. The topics of course include: pH, suspended solids, acidity and alkalinity, chloride, biochemical oxygen amount, chemical oxygen amount, sulfate, phosphate, nitrite, E. coli, dilution and titration calibration of sodium hydroxide solution, dilution and titration calibration of sulfuric acid solution, dilution and titration calibration of sodium thiosulfate solution.
